Cool Impact On Your 2006 Renovation Plans and Budget

Natural Resources Canada is moving to harmonize federal law with new U.S. legislation that prohibits the import of residential central air conditioners or heat pumps manufactured before Jan. 23, 2006, and with a SEER (seasonal energy efficiency ratio) rating of less than 13. U.S. Customs agents have already been advised of the ban.
This means that, although you can continue using your lower-rated air-conditioning system, if you need to repair or replace it, you will have no choice but to buy a model with a SEER 13 rating.
