Pedophile in Nepean Gets 22 Months for Child Porn Conviction
A man in Nepean was sentenced yesterday to 22 months in a treatment centre for charges that include sexually assaulting a sleeping 14-year-old boy. Ottawa police found with hundreds of pictures of child pornography in his home.
A pedophile with a foot fetish was charged with possession of child pornography after Ottawa police searched his home in November 2004 and found more than 1,000 child pornography images, along with homemade videotapes that involved Mr. Longley filming a young teenage boy asleep on the floor of his home and one of him having sex with a 14-year-old boy.
Robert Longley, 33, of Nepean, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography and sexual assault.
He also pleaded guilty to breaching conditions for hosting a sleepover for 13- and 14-year-old boys while he's been ordered to stay away from kids and to collecting knives in violation of his probation conditions.
Longley stared straight ahead in court as the video he made of two 14-year-olds was played. Spectators in court only heard the audio portion, which included family activity and Eagles' songs. The tape depicted the incident with the boy Longley admitted to assaulting.
During the assault, Longley filmed the boy's feet, crotch, then reached to pull down his pants. The attack ended when the boy awoke.
A second boy, whom Longley had hired to mow his lawn, was filmed engaging in oral and anal sex, and mutual masturbation with Longley while both were naked on a bed.
However, the boy testified he consented to sex with Longley and knew that he was being taped. The age of consent is 14.
The Supreme Court ruled in the case of Robin Sharpe that the exception to child pornography laws is material made for personal use of consensual sex with a young person old enough to consent, defence lawyer James Ford said. Longley -- one of eight men charged in a child porn bust last year -- was ordered to seek treatment for pedophilia and stay away from kids for a decade.
