Bankruptcies Rise

The Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcies reports 8,035 personal bankruptcies and 592 business bankruptcies in April. The number of personal bankruptcies was 19.3 % higher than in March and 18.3% above the level recorded in April 2007. Business bankruptcies were up 4.8 per cent over March and 9.2% over April 2007.
