Demonstration in Front of Steven Harper's Office in Ottawa: Tenants build makeshift houses
Hundreds of tenants from all over Quebec will be demanding that Stephen Harper's minority government invest in social housing in its very first budget, by building makeshift houses out of the Conservative Party election posters that
The demonstration is organized by the Front d'action populaire en réaménagement urbain (FRAPRU) who fears the Conservative Government will totally abandon the homeless and poorly housed tenants. During the last electoral campaign the Conservative Party made no commitment to use the $1.6 billion voted in June 2005 by the House of Commons for "affordable housing". Stephen Harper's party, however, has promised that during his mandate he would give a tax credit of $800 million to property developers.
